fundamentals of drawing
Students translate three-dimensional objects into two-dimensional drawings. Drawing skills include construction techniques, composition and line quality. Students are required to keep an active sketchbook that will be handed in during the quarter for review and grading purposes. Many assignments can and will be done in this sketchbook. This sketchbook is also an experiential record of research, used to document surroundings, types of compositions and design/art...reflections are recorded, as are reactions to readings, images, objects. This practice of process helps define a personal vernacular. The act of recording allows one to physically see repetitive notions over a period of time, which can influence a much larger body of work.
